Lush, is the first word that comes to mind when I listen to Voodoo Doll. I'm taken back to the nineties and I feel like I'm somewhere in south philly at ROOTS concert. That's how ALIVE this record feels to me.
Latrell floats over the rhodes laden synth bass production and then in a subtle but effective way, the beat starts to stutter and trip over itself and I am whisked away into some kinda 70s funky psychedelic space. Time Travel Much?
I hate to make comparisons because as an artist myself and I hate being compared to anything but UNION SOUNDS is definitely giving me outKast/dungeon family vibes and I am loving it. Horns, Drums & musicology are ON POINT the WORD PLAY is on point. The outro leaves me wanting more as any song should. I can't stop listening.
If I was you I would.
PLAY. VIBE. REPEAT.
